Hi everyone

I'm looking for information about HFCs, why they're problem, and what's being done to phase them out. I will be using this information to prepare curriculum for high school students, so mostly need sources that can be understood by non experts. That said, I'd also be interested in any relevant research studies.

In the US, the refrigerant industry has asked for a phase-out of HCFs. The fact that this impetus has come from industry is very encouraging. I wish that the fossil fuel industry had similar foresight! The EPA has subsequently proposed to slash the use of HFCs by 85% over the next 15 years.

The Chinese president Xi Jinping has indicated that China, the world’s largest producer of refrigerants, will accept the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol to phase down HFCs.
