Hi everyone,

The topic of Passive House, LEED and Net Zero construction practices has interested me as of late. I'm attempting to adjust my residential construction business model to start encompassing highly efficient remodels and new construction. Understandably, this is a service that has yet to see a high demand as a stand alone request.

I'm curious if anyone in this forum has experience with Passive House, LEED or any other type of high efficiency home building?

Hi Blake

Welcome to GreenExecutive!

There are some built environment professionals in this group who have an interest in green buildings. So hopefully, you will receive a reply from some of them. It might assist in offering advice if you say where you're located.

While I am not an expert on energy efficient buildings, I do know a fair bit about marketing. I can tell you that targeting a niche is generally a sound business decision, especially if it is a niche that is likely to grow over time. I therefore suspect that going down this path will be both a profitable and ethical direction to take.

In terms of selling the concept to potential customers, I suggest that you do some research into medium to long-term cost benefits. I have heard that, at least with commercial buildings, the savings can be significant. If you can put forward a persuasive financial case, even customers who are not environmentally minded can become interested.
